How to set up Hashpack wallet
- HashPack is a non-custodial wallet for Hedera Network
- Do not share your seed phrase to anyone
- Please set up your HashPack wallet to participate in our Community Lockdrop
HashPack is a non-custodial wallet, this means that Hashpack does not own the currencies in your wallet, nor do they have access to it. Hence, this also means that you will be in charge and control of your account information. All the data remains encrypted on your device and is never transmitted over the internet or stored on an external server. Consequently, if you lose your Seed Phrase or Private keys, it also means that Hashpack won’t be able to help you recover your account. So make sure to always keep your private keys and seed phrase safe and secure and don’t share them with anyone!!
To get started, install HashPack on your favourite browser or device.
In the first step, you will need to create a main password. This password is stored on your device only and is not exposed to the internet or any other place. If you are using Hashpack on several devices or browsers, you will need to create a new password for each device, and import your account on each device or browser.
Once you have entered a password with a minimum of 12 characters, accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, then click Next.
In the next step, select “Create New Wallet”.
Thereafter you will need to securely note down and store your 24-word seed phrase (aka. mnemonic phrase, or recovery phrase). A seed phrase is a special type of word combination that allows you to recover / restore your account. So don’t lose the word combination and also don’t share it with others (you also don’t share your pin code to your bank account with others!).
Once you have securely noted and stored the seed phrase, click next.
In the next step you will need to enter the missing words from your phrase. This is a mechanism in place to ensure that you have noted it down correctly.
Keep in mind please that you won’t be able to recover your account if you lose your 24-Word Seed Phrase! As long as you keep this phrase safe, you will be able to recover your wallet information. Once you have verified all the missing words, click Next.
Next, enter a nickname for your HashPack wallet. This step is optional, but may help you keep track of what the account is for. Best give it a name related to the purpose you are using it for. The name will also only be stored on your device, so if you log into Hashpack on another device / browser, the naming convention will not be present on the new device.
Then, press Create Wallet.
Hashpack will prompt you again to save your account information. This time please also carefully note down your Account ID. You will need your account ID to send and receive, and pay with HBAR. Further, you will also need your account ID when importing or recoivering your account.
After storing your account information go ahead and press press Reveal Recovery Keys.
Now, Hashpack is prompting you to securely note down your Private Key. Just like the 24 qword seed phrase, the private key is a special password, which allows you to recover your account. Similarly to the seed phrase, make sure to securely note it down and store it in a safe place without sharing it with anyone.
Once done, press Done and then Let's Go!
